FAQ

There are still lots of 'old school' dog trainers out there, including some on the TV... Dog training is an ever changing field with new scientific studies coming out all of the time. My formal qualifications as a Behaviourist and extensive experience provides you and your dog with the extra training input and behavioural insights you both deserve. Dog trainers must keep up to date with the most recent research and educate themselves all of the time instead of getting stuck in their ways. Constantly updating my knowledge is my passion and I attend seminars and undertake accredited courses regularly.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL WE NEED?

WHAT HAPPENS IN A PROGRAMME?

This is difficult to answer as every dog is different. In some cases three sessions may suffice to equip you with the necessary knowledge and tools needed to start modifying the behaviour and to begin seeing positive changes. In more complex cases of aggression and anxiety sessions over a few months may be necessary so that we can track progress together and ensure you are heading in the right direction. If you would like some extra help I am always on hand to assist after sessions and free follow up help is included with every programme.

HOW ARE YOU DIFFERENT TO OTHER DOG TRAINERS?

I will come to your house so that you and your dog are at their most comfortable and we will begin with a good chat about the behaviour from start to present day. This is my fact finding mission to start putting the pieces of the jigsaw together to identify the triggers. Once I have a good idea of the emotions involved in the behavioural response I can demonstrate the necessary training for you with your dog and provide ways in which to alleviate their stress in the meantime. After the consultation I go away and design your bespoke programme detailing the process of training simply and thoroughly.

WHAT IS YOUR TRAINING METHODOLOGY?

Training is never a one size fits all - every dog is different and your training will be completely unique, force free, and tailored to your dog and their issues. And most importantly it will be enjoyable for you and your dog by using toys, brain games and high-value food.

All training follows positive reward based methods that is enjoyable for the dog and enhances the relationship between the dog and owner.

WHAT AREAS DO YOU COVER?

I cover the whole of Ribble Valley and East Lancashire as a Behaviourist and also work with vet referrals from various practices. However if you are outside of the catchment area please don't hesitate to get in touch as sessions further afield can usually be accommodated with mileage costs added to the cost of a session.
